The Self-Talk of Hinduism -Luke Melvin

Describe ways in which you feel like Arjuna. I feel like Arjuna because I don’t always want to take my brother to school. There is a reward though it such as my parents not getting mad at me for not taking him.

How could you specifically apply the message of the Bhagavad GitaIt applies to Bhagavad Gita because means I have duties to do whether I like them or not.

How would the ancient Indian perspective of the Bhagavad Gita be VERY different than the 21st Century American perspective of doing one’s duty? Society does not support this at all people today will not do something unless they want to or unless they know they’ll get something from it. If we did this in today society it would run a lot better.

Now, venture back to ancient India. Think of a way the Bhagavad Gita could be used as a tool of oppression? In ancient India it was used as a tool of oppression, rulers could get people to do things by saying there will be a good outcome.

Feng Shui My Room

Today I Feng Shuied my room. I basically just picked up a bunch of clothes, made my bed, and opened my blinds. Now that my room is clean it allows chi to flow through it and it feels more alive. The elements in my room are wood and water. My bed represents wood because it allows me to grow. There is a Gatorade bottle in the refection of my mirror that represents water. It represents water because drinking water out of it helps me relax. Bagua is in my room through wood and water. Wood represents family, health, and community. Water represents knowledge, wisdom, and harmony. I enjoyed cleaning my room and how it is not messy anymore.

The Taoist Walk

The most powerful sensation during the walk was how peaceful it was, I felt like I didn’t have any worries. I’ve been on this path before but its been a couple years, I have never seen it like this though. I heard the wind hitting the leaves of the trees. I thought about how peaceful it was.  I think this related to Taoism because I could think and gather my thoughts without anything or body bothering me.
